Kelly + Brad / Engagement
When I was growing up, my grandparents would always say “April showers bring May flowers”, but lately I’ve begun to think this Spring that it’s May showers bringing June flowers.
It has been raining steady here in Indianapolis for nearly all of the month of May, so I was delighted when a window of warm weather came our way and allowed me to meetup with Kelly and Brad for their engagement lifestyle session.
Kelly and Brad are an amazingly fun couple, and like many of my fabulous clients, were up for all kinds of fun ideas I had in mind for capturing great pictures of them!
As someone who strives for new and fresh ideas, I’m constantly on the lookout for elements that add excitement, color, and glamour to my style of photos and we found one such spot at the beginning of our day:

This new structure on the grounds of the White River State Park is called The Tent. It was commissioned by the Indianapolis 500 Festival to commemorate their 50th Anniversary Legacy Art Project.
You wouldn’t believe it if I told you, but off to the right of the first colorful photo was a crew of sanitation workers running their big machinery, creating an unbearable amount of noise and plenty of foul odors to follow!
None of that was enough of a distraction or hindrance to separate Kelly and Brad from each other, and goes to show that neither location nor situation stands in the way of fun, colorful pictures — or a truly great couple!
Kelly told me she loved the style of a picture I had taken last Fall of Abigail and Josh laying in the grass together, so when I saw a blooming tree in the distance I knew we had found the perfect spot:

We spent some more time strolling thru the Indianapolis Canal Walk, and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of having the place nearly all to ourselves.

A wardrobe change later, and a trip thru the Indiana Government Center took up the rest of our evening but not before capturing some more great moments:

I had a truly fabulous time with Kelly and Brad and am stoked about their upcoming wedding this Fall at the Indiana State House and their reception venue of Terrace at Market Towers — good times ahead, for sure.

WOW~ That’s about all I have to say so far. I love them, Ryan! Thank you SO much!!!! We really enjoyed getting our pictures taken and it seemed so natural with you. And like I said before, Brad was a lot less shy than he normally is. I cannot wait to see the slideshow, but until then, everyone is getting a link to your journal!! =)
